Amritsar with Vaishno Devi Katra
Day 1: Arrival in Amritsar + Golden Temple & Local Sightseeing

Arrive in Amritsar and check in to your hotel. Begin your day with a visit to the sacred Golden Temple (Sri Harmandir Sahib) – the spiritual heart of Sikhism. Witness the shimmering temple amidst the holy sarovar and feel the calm energy of the surroundings. Don’t forget to participate in the Langar – the world’s largest free kitchen that feeds thousands daily. After spending time at the temple, visit the Jallianwala Bagh, located nearby. This historical site commemorates the tragic 1919 massacre and is a powerful reminder of India’s freedom struggle. In the afternoon, explore the Partition Museum, a unique space that showcases stories from the 1947 partition. In the evening, head to the Wagah Border (around 30 km from Amritsar) to witness the Beating Retreat Ceremony. The high-energy patriotic parade between Indian and Pakistani soldiers is a must-see. Return to the city for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gurudwara Tour or Optional Local Attractions + Travel to Katra

After breakfast, you may choose to visit a few more significant Gurudwaras like Gurudwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib, Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib, or Gurudwara Ramsar Sahib. If you prefer sightseeing, visit Durgiana Temple, a Hindu temple with architecture resembling the Golden Temple, or enjoy some shopping in Hall Bazaar for local handicrafts, phulkari, and juttis. In the afternoon or evening, begin your journey to Katra, which is approximately 260 km and takes about 6–7 hours by road. You can travel by hired cab or train. Upon reaching Katra, check in to your hotel and rest to prepare for the next day’s spiritual trek.
Day 3: Vaishno Devi Darshan (Holy Trek)

Start early for your Vaishno Devi Yatra. The trek from Katra to the shrine is about 12–13 km one way. Devotees can either walk, take ponies, palkis, or opt for a helicopter service (if booked in advance). The path is well-maintained and filled with devotional energy. On reaching the Vaishno Devi Bhawan, offer your prayers and spend peaceful time in darshan. Depending on your pace and return time, you may choose to halt at Ardhkuwari Cave on the way back, a sacred spot where Mata Vaishno is believed to have meditated for 9 months. Return to Katra by evening or late night and rest.
Day 4: Departure from Katra / Return Journey
After breakfast, check out from the hotel and prepare for your return journey. You can head to Jammu Railway Station or Airport (around 50 km from Katra) for your onward travel. If time permits and you’re interested, you can stop by Raghunath Temple or explore the local Katra market for religious souvenirs and prasad.
